Country Cousins client, Mrs N, has been with us since September 2019. She required our live-in care services after her hip replacement and has continued to benefit from the support her carers provide her.
Mrs N has an incredible life story, having worked as a Wren during World War Two. Wrens were women who served in the Navy during World War Two, taking on roles such as codebreakers, pilots, and U-boat hunters. And by chance, after watching a television program, with her carer, Shirly, they realised she was entitled to a medal for her service.
With Shirley’s encouragement, Mrs N agreed they should investigate. So, Shirley made some enquiries to help ensure Mrs. N got the medal and recognition she so very well deserved.
Mrs. N has now received her medal at the age of 101 years old.
However, it didn’t end there.
Mrs. N was then invited by The Imperial War Museum to be interviewed about her time as a Wren, to which she gladly accepted. Mrs. N was also invited to attend the public unveiling of the interview in June 2024, which she thoroughly enjoyed.
What a great achievement for Mrs. N and fate that they came across the award ceremony on TV.
